About Autumn Johnson

Autumn Johnson attained her Broadcast Journalism and Emerging Media degree while minoring in Sports Marketing from Kennesaw State University in July 2018.

Autumn has the luxury of being a three-sport athlete, which has given her the advantage to create engaging basketball content by understanding their perspective on the game. She devoted majority of her time towards basketball, which has taught her how to be a team player, passionate, coachable, and a quick learner.

Coming into college, Autumn’s passion for the game transitioned into the media aspect. At the age of 23, Autumn works diverse freelance roles with the NBA 2K League as a fill-in reporter in New York; ESPN+ as a color analyst and sideline reporter in Atlanta; and WJBF News Channel 6 as a part-time reporter in Augusta. She also cover the Atlanta Hawks, Falcons, and Dream with R3play.TV as their social media reporter. As far as print, Autumn previously held the position as a WNBA/NCAA beat writer for SB Nation’s Swish Appeal..

Autumn has four years of live, digital, and print experience working for professional and collegiate teams. Within these opportunities, her work consists of producing daily ideas, shooting, writing scripts, editing, and posting content on the web and social platforms all under a strict deadline. Writing for Swish Appeal specifically has taught Autumn an efficient formula of how to write and publish quality sports articles for game recaps and feature stories. She has great experience working in the environment of a chaotic gym, yet staying calm within the storm.

In the role as a sideline reporter and journalist, Autumn has possessed efficient skills of gathering information, conducting interviews, and producing stories in a fast-pace environment.

Personally, the best part of being a sports journalist to Autumn is having the opportunity to tell athletes stories in a fashion that is informative, entertaining, and innovative. She thoroughly enjoys the research portion of this role. Autumn’s main goal in each story is to deliver new information and/or perspective that the audience was unaware about the athlete until tuning in. She is constantly looking for new, quality sports angles to unpeal layers of an athlete’s story.

Some of the five-star athletes Autumn had an opportunity to interview are: Dominique Wilkins, Saquon Barkley, Deshaun Watson, Elena Delle Donne, Quavo, Todd Gurley, Baker Mayfield, Michael Vick, Lisa Leslie, Candace Parker, Diana Taurasi, Skylar Diggins, Collin Sexton, and a pleasure with so many more!

Currently, Autumn is seeking a full-time position as a sports reporter/anchor for an established sports media industry.
